Corporate Entertainment Compliance Checklist UK
Entertainment is the last category in corporate event budgets that still regularly runs without proper compliance documentation. For most organisations, every other contractor category — AV, catering, security — goes through procurement. Entertainment is booked on a phone call and paid on a personal credit card. That is changing fast.
The Full Compliance Checklist
- Public Liability Insurance — minimum £1m cover, verified certificate before the event
- Written contract — signed by both parties, covering fee, date, venue, performance format, and cancellation terms
- IR35 Status Determination Statement — required for all corporate contractor engagements
- DBS check — required if performers will be in proximity to children or vulnerable adults
- Risk assessment — required for physical acts including aerial, fire, and pyrotechnics
- Payment via invoice — not cash, not personal transfer — with a VAT number if applicable
- Right to work confirmation — for non-UK performers
What Most Hirers Are Missing
The two most commonly missed items are the IR35 SDS and the written contract. Both are straightforward to produce — but neither is standard practice in the entertainment industry without a platform that generates them automatically. Most entertainment agencies do not provide either.
How AnyGig Handles This
AnyGig auto-generates a contract on every booking and produces an IR35 Status Determination Statement for corporate engagements. PLI verification is displayed on every performer profile. Payment is paid through the payment route shown until after the performance — creating a compliant, auditable transaction record for every booking.
Compliant entertainment bookings, built in.
AnyGig gives corporate event planners full compliance documentation on every booking — contracts, IR35 SDS, PLI verification, and direct payments.
